The non-trophy sheep season in WMU 410 now ends October 31.
The non-trophy sheep season in WMU 410 for the 2024 hunting season was shortened (Sept 10-Oct 31) with the loss of the month of November. In communications May 29th with senior Fish & Wildlife, we were advised that they had been getting quite a few complaints from both resident trophy sheep (ram) hunters and outfitters about non-trophy hunters affecting their hunts. The sheep are bunched up more in some areas and the ewe hunters are having more of an impact on the ram hunters than before. There is only a quota of 10 non-trophy tags with 25 tags available for trophy sheep (rams). Reducing the non-trophy season is a loss of opportunity but still allows app 8 weeks to hunt them. The trade off allows for a much better trophy sheep hunting experience.
